....frosted faces, ....forever friends
Buster & Jack..May '08 Jack Buster These two biggie Iggies arrived just last week, turned in by someone claiming they had just shown up on their property and were feral. (?) At a whopping 30 and 20 pounds, the story seems amiss. Regardless, a loving, generous lady familiar with IGs and seniors wanted to do what was right, and accepted the challenge of supporting their medical bills if we could foster them and help find homes. Another one of our AZ angels transported them from Phoenix and yet another is fostering Buster in Cottonwood. Jack, the smaller of the two, is here with us in Flagstaff. He's loving, sweet and starved for attention, acting more like a big happy lab than an Iggy! His tail has not stopped wagging since he arrived. He will make someone an amazing companion. He is neutered and just had a dental and lost some small teeth. He needs to lose about 4 pounds to be at his ideal weight. He has a lovely white & red coat which is very soft after several baths! He loves the other dogs, but his doggie manners are a little rusty, so hopefully some time spent with another patient, well-balanced dog will bring out the best in him. He would probably be happiest with another dog as a companion, but I think he would be a happy "only dog" too if his person was around to spend lots of time with him. He is submissive when challenged, but can be somewhat pushy, so will do best with a strong leader and reliable schedule. He has not shown any aggression or growling at the other IGs he is living with. He is using the dog door, but with all IGs must be watched for marking inappropriately in the house. (which he's only done once since he's been here) Jack and Buster both have some medical issues that will require monitoring. Jack has skin lesions that sometimes bleed and must be watched for changes. They don't bother him and the vet is not overly concerned. Lots of IGs get these from too much sun exposure. Buster had some tumors removed and we await biopsy results. He was diagnosed hypothyroid (probably why he's so chubby!) and is now on thyroid medication which costs about $10/month. More to follow about him. The vet thinks Jack is around 6 or 7 and we are guessing Buster is a little bit older. We don't know if they are siblings or father/son, but they are both sweet, loving, happy dogs. We think Buster was "the boss" as his temperment is a little stronger, but they don't seem to be missing each other now that they are seperated. Jack is ready to meet you and start his new life with someone who appreciates his adorable face and calm, sweet demeanor. He's happiest right next to you, wherever you are. You just can't NOT love this dog! Please contact us to arrange a meeting & homevisit. We would like to keep Jack in Arizona, so we can follow up on his progress, but will consider adopting to an ajoining state. We will NOT ship. Meet Blue! Bluebug is looking for a forever home. He is located in Indiana, but transport can be arranged for the perfect home. Blue lost his front leg several years ago and is also on anti-seizure medication which keeps his seizures at bay. The loss of his leg does not affect his ability to run and play like a normal dog! He is an inspiration at 8 yrs old! Please contact us for more information about Blue. His current foster home thinks he would do best without small children and in a home with another small dog. He can be a cranky pants at times, so someone with patience and understanding of a handicapped dog is required. Blue loves to snuggle and would also be happy as an only dog, getting all the attention he deserves!
Sophia and Maria... Maria, now named Moira is loving life in Joplin! She is slowly adjusting to home life with her foster mom and the other lovely ladies of the Ozark Older Iggies Assisted Living Facility. She will stay there as long as she needs. Sophia is doing well at Hazeljane's Blessings in Tulsa and was recently listed on Petfinder and available for adoption after her rehab with Maggie and the Hazeljane Hooligans! Thank you to EVERYONE who continues to ask about this dynamic duo. Cowboy has found a forever home! Cowboy (previously named Speedy) was found in an Osawwa OK shelter by some wonderful volunteers. Maggie with Hazeljane's Blessing sprung him and fostered him. He was in horrible shape with long nails, terrible skin and extremely thin. With some wholesome food that Silver Hounds was able to provide and lotsa Maggie-love, Cowboy blossomed into a wonderful , healthy-looking dog and has found his forever home with a very nice couple. Congrats to Cowboy and Hazeljane's for another successful placement!
Jake was our FIRST sponsored Silver Hound when his breeder did not take him back. Because of our generous supporters, we were able to contribute $400 toward his neuter and dental. Jake was a top producer and is listed as such with the AKC. He is retired and loving life in his new home. Our Rainbow BridgeMethusala-Mel for short
Mel was found in a kill shelter in Joplin about the same time as Sophia & Maria. Our Angel in Joplin went and sprung this old lumpy, bumpy boy and brought him home to get him fixed up! Deaf and blind and covered with growths, (the vet said he was probably 13 or so) we were hoping he could be saved....but sadly, after a few weeks in his foster home, it was decided to let him go quietly in the arms of a loving human to the Rainbow Bridge. Run free, sweet old Mel.
Nala Nala went to the Bridge in Jan '08 at 14+ yrs old in the arms of her devoted foster mom and rescuer. Nala was the oldest gal at Wiseguys and will be missed. At least she knew what love was all about in her final year.
I've gone somewhere, not far away, a place with no more pain There’s butterflies and big blue skies and shelter from the rain.
My life with you was heavenly and in the end you’ll see, That I was meant to be with you for all eternity.
You’ll see me in a starry night when all the world’s asleep, I’ll be here with you always my memory you’ll keep.
So don’t be sad that I am gone for really I am HERE, Just look beyond the obvious and don’t shed one more tear.
Thank you so for loving me I’ll love you always too, My life here on this earth is done so now I’ll wait for you.
