Our mission is to raise funds for privately owned Italian Greyhound rescue organizations to help defray medical costs of the senior foster dogs in their care. We supply food and other necessities when needed, assist in transport & fostering arrangement and promote adoption. We also maintain a database of resources and volunteers across the US.

Old Dog

A senior dog is always there come sunny days or rain,
Their gentle ways through lazy days are sometimes filled with pain.
With cloudy eyes and toothless smiles they shower you with care,
Grateful, Quiet, Meek and Mild, Peaceful, Kind & Fair.

They teach us all how we should be, not afraid to live and love
For someday soon they'll leave us and we'll know from up above....
Their guidance will embrace us and they'll lead us on, you see,
For another senior needs us... ...it's just how it should be.

Senior dogs normally have higher medical bills due to the fact that many of them need dental work and other geriatric testing, as well as special food and medications. That's where Silver Hounds can help. We are NOT a rescue or adoption group, but more of an assistance program for older IGs in foster care.
We maintain an database for fostering and transport across the country and work with shelters and small rescue groups to get the dogs into loving homes.
Please contact us if you have or know of a senior IG who needs assistance or if you would like to volunteer. We need volunteers in every state to carry on our mission.
